FAQs / Rates

What are your fees?

Individual sessions (50 minutes) are $100/session and couple/family sessions are $125/session (50 minutes), self-pay/out-of-network benefits only. I accept payments through Ivy Pay (debit/credit cards, HSA cards).

Do you offer reduced fees for those who need it?

Absolutely! If you need a reduced rate you can find me on Open Path Collective.

Why don’t you take insurance?

There are a few reasons why I do not accept insurance that I want to be transparent about:

*Insurance companies require a diagnosis and not everyone meets the criteria or wants one on their record

*
Insurance companies can request access to your records at any time and determine if you need therapy without ever seeing you

*Some insurances have a limit on how many sessions a client can have, despite your wants or needs

*Insurance companies control the reimbursement rates and do not account for clinical experience

Do you offer in-person services?

No, I only offer telehealth services at this time. I use Zoom for sessions and operate on CST (Central Time Zone).

Do you work with people who are not LGBTQ+?

Absolutely! I have worked with a wide variety of clients with a range of issues and feel comfortable working with diverse backgrounds. I also love working with loved ones of LGBTQ+ individuals to help them work through related issues.

Is therapy private? What if I’m not out to my friends or family?

Yes, therapy is private. Any communication between the client and therapist is confidential and will not be discussed with anyone without your written permission. Exceptions include: when someone is in danger of hurting themselves or others as defined by KY state law, or abuse of a vulnerable population (child or elder abuse, etc.). If you have any concerns about privacy related to your sexual or gender identity/orientation, your confidentiality is honored and prioritized throughout the entire therapy process.

What if I can’t do weekly sessions?

Part of my job is meeting the client where they are at, including being mindful of limitations to scheduling and finances. It is important for me to operate ethically, so I will generally recommend starting with weekly or biweekly sessions for most individuals starting therapy. This gives us adequate time to work on goals and build a therapeutic relationship which is essential for success. The scheduling and frequency of our sessions can be discussed during our first meeting and we will figure out something that works best for you!

I live in a state other than Kentucky. Can I still work with you?

I am licensed to only work with Kentucky residents at this time.

What should I expect for the first session and what do I need to do to get started?

Before the first session: You’ll be emailed a link from SimplePractice.com to complete a few intake forms: consent forms, policies, and a brief questionnaire for more clarity on your history and current stressors. Then I’ll message you to figure out a good time to have our first appointment via Zoom.

During the first session: We’ll get to know each other! We’ll go over where you’re at today, a little bit about your background, how you’re feeling these days, and identify what you’d like to work on together. If we both feel that we’re a good fit, then we’ll get you a regular appointment time on my schedule!

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services.

●      You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services.

●      Make sure your provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your service. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

●      For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
